Standard in pre-war stock. The system can only move as much air as it can pull back, so a bedroom with the door shut is starved. Undercut the doors or add a jumper duct before anyone quotes you a bigger unit.

This is most common in homes built before about 1940. Pre-war construction — galvanized supply, cast iron drains, cloth-wrapped wiring, ungrounded circuits.
