No arc-fault protection on bedroom circuits
I Like To Fix
AFCI requirements postdate this stock. Retrofitting AFCI breakers to bedroom circuits is optional rather than required in an existing house, and it is the protection that addresses arcing in concealed wiring – which is exactly what ageing backstabbed connections produce.
This is most common in homes built roughly 1980 to 2000. The polybutylene and aluminum-wiring window, 150 amp panels, R-22 systems and first-cycle architectural shingle.
You can handle this one yourself. No call needed.
