Cast iron drain leaking below the floor
I Like To Fix
Old stacks fail at the joints and the water goes under the house rather than into it. The first sign is often odor rather than damp.
This is most common in homes built before about 1940. Pre-war construction — galvanized supply, cast iron drains, cloth-wrapped wiring, ungrounded circuits.
